The Beginning of a Long Rant

Since there's so many topics that I'd like to cover but can't really decide on which ones, I'll post a list of things that pop up in my mind that I have things to talk about. Please pick any one of them, and then I'll decide on how to elaborate my position.

Gay rights/Gay marriage
Democrats
Republicans
Tea Party
Park51/Ground Zero Mosque/Whatever people call it
Role of Government
Economics
Health Care
Bailouts
Tax
Laws/Reform
Privacy
And many more...

If you have other suggestions, please feel free to message me on twitter (which I rarely check), via email, or through a PM. Of course, you can also just reply here as well.

  1. I like the idea of health care. I think in a state of recession, we are well aware that our country is running out of money. If the current tax money is used up for the elderly and disabled, will there be any money left for us when we get older? Also, what can the government do to improve insurance policies. I think every American citizen should have the right to all doctors. However, based on insurance and personal income, certain families are able to get better doctors. I don't know if this helps, but I would like to learn anything about the health care system since I am currently in college and will enter the health field after I graduate. I would want to know where the health care field would stand ten years from now.

  2. I agree that health care and the idea that our country is running out of money would be a great topic to cover. In the spring when the bill for health care reform was ratified by congress everyone was either excited about it being passed or very upset. I feel that very few people know what its actually about.

  3. hey jack,
I would like to voice my opinions on the ground zero mosque. I usually refrain from matters like these but when I heard about this one, I felt like I should take a stance. After some contemplation, I decided that the Muslims have every right to build their place of worship. I feel this way because my family came to this country because of religious persecution back where they are from. They were not allowed to practice their Jewish religion because the Communists didn’t believe in religion. The outcome of this was many pogroms against my family and many other Jews in Russia. My parents found refuge here in New York and have been practicing their religion in serenity for 18 years. If someone stood up and prevented their right to freedom of religion, it would undermine the whole purpose of this nation. Similarly, it is unconstitutional to be against the building of the Mosque no matter where it is. Speaking of Islam, Barack Obama is not a Muslim, like many misinformed people believe. He is a liberal who understands what this country stands for. So please do not defame him for his beliefs or say that he is an extremist like the terrorists because that makes you highly misinformed.
Please return the favor by commenting back on my posts. thanks

  5. On health care: Wow, apparently I haven't been keeping up with the news. There's actually 2 related health care issues that I've found so far, and there might be more laws that passed. So far, I found H.R. 3962 and H.R. 3590. There might be more, but I'll try to read the bill and interpret it. Considering that I'm not a lawyer nor a professional analyst, please take my thoughts with a grain of salt. Also, the length of the bill makes me want to puke:/

On Ground Zero: I'll just agree or disagree with the ideas related to Ground Zero, and I won't bash Obama on Ground Zero because as far as I know, he supports it, and so do I. I'm not one of those people who shout "Obama is a Muslim", because a. I believe he's a Christian and b. It doesn't pertain to the issue. Although another topic on Obama and his rivals will have to wait.

On what I'll do: First, I'll work on the ground zero thing, simply because it's easier and it doesn't carry a 300k word document. Second, I'll be extremely busy with midterms and misc. God, I bet I'm gonna stay up these next few weeks. Sigh.
